The Hierarchy For Eating Healthy…… When should you start worrying about buying organic foods and what to do before that?

First Step: If you’re frequency going out to restaurants and bars aim to cut it in half. Over the course of the next 3 to 5 weeks.

Second Step: Get Off the Crap, (cookies, ice cream, eating out often, buying lunch,. Replace one bad item in your grocery cart with one healthy whole food item. (i.e. Ben & Jerry’s for some better ingredients to make homemade ice or something like Greek Yogurt that you can freeze, add cinnamon and stevia and upgrade your dessert) Practice for 3 to 5 weeks.

Third Step: Adopt with whole food diet here’s a list of some of the cheapest and best foods. Aim to go 80 to 90 % whole foods over the course of 3 to 5 weeks. Make gradual progress.

Forth  Step: Use apps like Grocery IQ and Coupons.com or rewards cards from certain places to same money on your new diet staples. Start racking up rewards points and finding out which apps you like and actually save you money.

Get a rewards card if you shop at one place. Investing in a rewards card for your grocery store can results in lots of long term savings. All major grocery stores have them, I suggest getting one and using it every time.

Fifth Step:  Now its would be smart to aim for more organic choices…Think about switching just your protein sources to organic/grass fed (find local farms and or a person who has chickens and asking them how much would they charge for a dozen eggs use meetup.com to local farmer and growers in the community they often congregate in some kind of organization )

How To Save Money In The Grocery Store

#1 Don’t Over Do It On Protein .8 to 1g per pound of bodyweight is plenty. Most people don’t need more than that. Protein is the most expensive part of the grocery list and tapering back a little if your over eating it, this will save you some money.

You can also look for alternative sources like

  • organ meats
  • dairy proteins like cottage cheese and yogurt (which I know I’m always finding deals on) and also
  • buy cuts that are best fit for a slow cooker to save money. Though its going to take longer

#2 Strike when the Iron is hot and double or triple up when you find sales

Double up on the sales for high prices proteins and freezable goods such as veggies and fruits. This goes for canned and frozen fruits and veggies as well.
